McLaren F1
The McLaren F1 is one the greatest cars in
history with only 100 cars ever made and unique in many ways such as
an engine covered with hand made gold and a 3 seat cabin arranged in an arrowhead formation with the
Driver sitting in the middle ahead of
the 2 passengers and a complex
Sound system made
specially for the car.
The weight is a surprisingly low 2205 pounds (1000kg) thanks to the
carbon fiber reinforced plastic chassis and an advanced 627hp BMW
V12 weighing only 550 pounds (250kg). The price a high
$1.07millionUS. 0-96km/h (60mph) comes in 3.2 seconds and top speed
is 372km/h (231mph) with the rev limiter which limits the revs to
7500rpm but the prototype was driven up to 391km/h (243mph) with the
rev limiter removed. This F1
held the world production car record for many years.
